Wavelet-Based Estimation of a Discriminant Function
In this paper we consider wavelet-based binary linear classifiers. Both consistency results and implementational issues are addressed. We show that under mild assumptions on the design density wavelet discrimination rules are L2-consistent. The proposed method is illustrated on synthetic data sets in which the “truth” is known and on an applied discrimination problem from the industrial field.
متن کاملWeb Page Quality Estimation Based on Linear Discriminant Function
With the growth of web data, how to estimate web page quality effectively and rapidly becomes more and more important for web information retrieval and knowledge discovery. This paper analyzes the differences between retrieval target pages and ordinary pages using query-independent features. Using these features, an algorithm called Linear Page Estimation (LPE) is proposed for web page quality ...
متن کاملFunction Estimation via Wavelet
In this article we study function estimation via wavelet shrinkage for data with long-range dependence. We propose a fractional Gaussian noise model to approximate nonparametric regression with long-range dependence and establish asymp-totics for minimax risks. Because of long-range dependence, the minimax risk and the minimax linear risk converge to zero at rates that diier from those for data...
متن کاملWavelet estimation of a multifractal function
We prove that multifractal functions, characterized by their wavelet representation can be estimated in the white noise model by a Bayesian estimation method. We give rates of convergence for two different models. Further, we study empirical methods for estimating the hyperparameters of the model, which lead to a fully tractable estimator.
متن کاملWavelet Based Estimation of the Derivatives of a Density for m-Dependent Random Variables
Here, we propose a method of estimation of the derivatives of probability density based wavelets methods for a sequence of m−dependent random variables with a common one-dimensional probability density function and obtain an upper bound on Lp-losses for the such estimators.
